Camp Lejeune Attorney in Macon, Georgia

For over three decades, the groundwater at U.S. Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune was contaminated by volatile organic compounds (VOCs), potentially affecting approximately one million people who served, worked, and lived at the military base. Between 1953 and 1987, unsuspecting people relied on water from wells with dangerously high levels of carcinogens and toxins.

Years and decades later, many of these people have been diagnosed with cancer and chronic disease caused by their exposure to VOCs at Camp Lejeune. Recognizing the connection between illnesses and water contamination at Camp Lejeune, the Congress passed legislation that allows those affected by the unsafe water at the military base to pursue compensation from the federal government.

Brian Arnold, the founding attorney at Arnold & Arnold LLC, is dedicated to seeking justice for thousands of military personnel stationed at Camp Lejeune who made the ultimate sacrifice to serve this country. Helping you pursue compensation for your exposure injuries is the least Brian Arnold can do to show you his gratitude for the bravery you demonstrated when you put your life on the line for this country.

The Camp Lejeune attorney in Macon, Georgia, also serves the families of those who passed away after the contraction of diseases linked to their exposure to contaminated water at the military base. Contaminated Water at Camp Lejeune and the Right to Pursue Compensation

Over the years, the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR) conducted a series of studies to determine the exposure levels at Camp Lejeune between August 1, 1953, and December 31, 1987. The studies identified multiple volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in the contaminated water at the military base during this period. The water was contaminated with harmful chemicals at levels 240 to 3400 times higher than permitted by maximum safety limits. Some of the main contaminants at Camp Lejeune were two cancer-causing industrial chemicals – trichloroethylene (TCE) and perchloroethylene (PCE).

At the time, military personnel and their families at Camp Lejeune bathed in and drank the tap water without knowing that it was contaminated with many dangerous chemicals. Years and decades later, many of them developed serious health problems but were not able to take legal action because the exposure occurred a long time and the statute of limitations has passed.

With the passage of the Camp Lejeune Justice Act in August 2022, the approximately one million military service workers, civilian workers, and their family members who were potentially exposed to the contaminated water at the camp can pursue compensation against the federal government. Many have been denied this chance for decades.
